Affect- Verb meaning having an impact on or to have an effect on -- The death of my cat affected me greatly; A change in weather can affect growth of crops greatly.

Effect- Noun meaning a change as a result of another cause. Brian's decision had a profound on not only him but others as well; The effects of rising temperatures on earth have not yet been completely felt.
